Our events usually consist of two to four courses of fire that either exercise specific defensive shooting skills or simulate defensive encounters. These typically require drawing from the holster, shooting while moving, and/or shooting from behind cover. The simulated defensive encounters are randomized for each participant, require evaluating the defensive situation in real time, and executing tactics appropriate to the situation.
Optionally, we may offer an additional exercise that incorporate Airsoft force-on-force simulations. Alternately, these may involve the use of alternative weapons such as carbines, shotguns, edged weapons, or use of hand-to-hand techniques. If these require additional equipment, we will either make this equipment available or identify specific equipment requirements in our e-mail notices. Event Dates Our events are held the first Saturday of each month at Hendricksen Range east of Salt Lake City, in Parleys Canyon. See our schedule for details. Setup (8:00 a.m.) New Shooter Orientation (8:30 a.m.) If you are new to defensive pistol shooting, we ask that you take the time to attend our new shooter orientation. This covers range commands/procedures, range layout, safety rules, and general gun handling techniques. Registration (8:45 a.m.) Everyone participating in the event must sign a liability waiver indemnifying other participants, the Utah Polite Society, and the Police Mutual Aid Association, as well as pay a $12 match fee. Event Start (9:00 a.m.) Event Finish (11:00 a.m. . 1:00 p.m.) The time our events finish is variable depending on the complexity of the exercises and the number of participants. Open Range If time permits, we will open the range for informal practice after the scheduled exercises. |
